Hotz Pharmacy

The Hotz Pharmacy and Drugstore in Küsnacht was opened on May 1, 1924, by Hermann Hotz-Schaufelberger. In the first eight months of its operating year, he treated 583 prescriptions, including 516 homemade preparations and 61 industrial preparations.

His son, Hermann Hotz, ran the pharmacy from 1952 to 1999, representing the second generation. His vision and impact are still evident in everyday life, and he laid the foundation for the later expansion of the pharmacy's services.

Barbara Bretscher-Hotz has worked at the pharmacy since 1978 and took over management in 1999, representing the third generation. With the purchase of the neighboring property in 2012, the pharmacy was able to expand its product range and double its retail space. A small village pharmacy evolved into a pharmacy with a drugstore department, consultation rooms, and modern workstations.

Philipp Bretscher joined the company in 2019, representing the fourth generation. Due to growth during the COVID-19 pandemic and the additional institutions served by Hotz, spatial adjustments had to be considered starting in 2022. With the renovation in 2024/2025 and the construction of the GreenCube, Hotz Pharmacy and Drugstore will be able to offer customers and employees state-of-the-art shopping and workspaces. An expansion and specialization of the drugstore product range, three consulting rooms for services, a medical device department, a doctor's office, and technological solutions according to the latest standards round out the offering.
